Aloha and welcome to beautiful Kauai! After 41 years and 500+ instruments, I’m happy to say that the passion for lutherie is as strong as it was in the beginning. The majority of what I have built are ukulele, mandolins and guitars in that order. All of these include both flat top and arch top designs. My focus is, and always has been, to build the best sounding, easiest playing instruments I can, while maximizing the natural beauty of the wood used. While realizing that high quality luthier grade wood is becoming increasingly scarce, necessitating the preservation of these resources.
Because I have built large numbers of both arch top and flat top instruments, I have a unique skill set that that utilizes construction techniques from each to optimize the materials used and the sound produced. Over the years I have acquired a large stock of wood, most of which was harvested over 20 years ago. This helps me keep my prices down. Long experience gives me the ability to advise my customers on the pros and cons of both the hardware and options available on today’s instruments.
